The Story
Community Teamwork was established in 1965 as part of President Lyndon B. Johnson’s War on Poverty and the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964. Today, Community Teamwork’s mission is much the same as it was in 1965. As Greater Lowell’s Community Action Agency, we mobilize resources for low-income people, providing opportunities for them to achieve stability, self-sufficiency and a have an active voice and participation in the decisions that affect their lives.
Community Teamwork’s vision is a community of opportunity where fewer people live in poverty. A future where clients are aware of opportunities available and how to access them so they achieve their potential for economic independence and personal growth. Through teamwork we want the community to be a committed and knowledgeable partner which results in fewer people living in poverty. Community Teamwork wants to exceed client, funder and employee expectations. Community Teamwork want clients, staff and community to be inspired to lead personal and community change.
